Controlled temperature
Due to their unique characteristics, some commodities must be transported in specified circumstances, especially at a regulated temperature.
Carriers must adhere to specific requirements throughout such transit, which must continue the entire time.
So, compared to the cost of shipping a regular sea container, the "controlled temperature" alternative is much more expensive.
Transport of goods at a set temperature
Food items are the most common things that need special handling, but other goods with unique handling requirements include cosmetics, chemicals, and frequently, electronics and building supplies. In addition to the possible dangers of changes in their chemical makeup, these commodities can lose their qualities and become wholly unusable for further use owing to variations and exceeding the minimum or maximum temperature during transportation.
Reefers
Specialized isothermic bodies with an aggregate or refrigerated containers called as reefers are used to execute transportation services under regulated temperature settings.
Particularly in long-haul maritime transportation, the issue of temperature changes and changing air conditions is crucial. The shipment can travel across several climate zones over the course of more than 45 days. Reefer containers are used to carry products including fruits, vegetables, fish, and meat that need to be kept at a specific temperature. Strict safety regulations, such as electronic temperature monitoring of the cargo at each stage, apply to the transportation of containers in controlled temperature mode.
Maintaining the initial set temperature is necessary for transportation at a regulated temperature. Therefore, it is important to thoroughly inspect the reefer container both before and after loading. It should be in good working order, dry, preferably unscented, and technically sound overall.
It is crucial to note that some products, notably fresh fruits and vegetables, require extra conditions in addition to the right temperature, such as the right ventilation or humidity level.
Equipment required
Equipment for the transport vehicle is necessary for safe, regulated temperature transportation. This equipment includes a temperature monitoring and control system, as well as the right insulation, ventilation, and humidity control.
